“One of the main reasons why I was able to thrive at RLS was playing on teams with other students. We trained together, won and lost together, traveled on the bus together, and developed close friendships that have lasted nearly 50 years.

Given the rigor of the RLS academic program, playing sports provided a release and distraction from studying, taking tests, doing experiments, and writing papers. Basketball, baseball, and soccer seasons provided balance in my life and helped me learn how to lead and support my teammates.

I learned to take responsibility for my actions, work with others on a common objective, and overcome setbacks like injuries and emotional losses that left me and my teammates with an empty feeling. RLS’s classrooms and fields of play helped me become the person I am today.”
